Amy Chapman by Chelsea

We’re delighted that two works by young people from Cambridge have been included in Generation ART a display of work by children and young people from across the UK at Turner Contemporary. The Generation ART project offers young people the chance to get involved in the arts by making work and getting involved in a high quality exhibition at every stage, as curators, artists, audiences and champions. With 40 artworks from over 200 young artists the exhibition includes an eclectic mix of pieces, from painting and ceramics, to film and photography.

A photograph by Chelsea from North Cambridge is included in the exhibition. The picture was taken during the Kettle’s Yard supported project ‘I come from a place’. For the project photographer Katherine Green worked with young people from North Cambridge Girls Group to document their community and experiences. The photo is a portrait of Amy Chapman, Young People’s worker for Cambridgeshire County Council, in Chelsea’s bedroom.

Catarina who is part of the Circuit Cambridge group, also had her photograph chosen to go on display. Circuit Cambridge is a group of 15-25 year olds who engage with Wysing Arts Centre & Kettle’s Yard to develop a programme of workshops, commissions, & events for other young people.

Generation ART is on at Turner Contemporary until 6 September 2015 and then in 2016 will go on tour to New Walk Museum and Art Gallery and Soft Touch Arts, Leicester, and Quay Arts on the Isle of Wight.
