From 30 September to 1 October 2017 the Friends will spend a long weekend in Hull the UK City of Culture 2017. Come along to take in some of its most impressive sights. Highlights include:

  • Experiencing Hull’s impressive civic buildings and historic old town with a guided walk led by a local expert.
  • Visiting the Ferens Art Gallery, which has been chosen to host the Turner Prize exhibition this year.
  • Seeing the beautiful Hull University, designed in part by Sir Leslie Martin, and its permanent collection of twentieth-century British works by major names including Nevinson, Fry, Grant, Spencer and Nicholson.

Coming up soon, on Saturday 22 April 2017, join the Friends to visit Sussex Modernism: Retreat and Rebellion at Two Temple Place and afterwards head to the Estorick Collection for an exhibition tour of 200 works by Giacomo Balla.

A day trip on Saturday 6 May 2017 gives you the chance to visit the magnificent Balham studio of the sculptor Nigel Hall RA, where Hall will introduce his work. Then to the National Portrait Gallery in the afternoon for the first exhibition of Howard Hodgkin’s portraits, Absent Friends.
