About the artist

Born in Hastings, Golding spent his youth in Mexico and Canada. He moved to London to research his PhD at the Courtauld Institute of Art. Later he taught at the Institute and the Royal College of Art, becoming one of the world's leading experts on Cubism. His academic activity dovetailed with curatorial and artistic practice. Over the years Golding's painting saw a shift from figurative to abstract, always retaining its main focus on the human figure.
