1 April 2000 – 30 April 2000

The only showing in the UK of this retrospective of one of Europe’s most prominent constructive artists, after showings in Germany, Bucharest and Prague.

Diet Sayler was born in 1939 and grew up in Timisoara, Romania, emigrating to Germany in 1973. His paintings use simple geometric shapes and intense colour. To coincide with the exhibition in Cambridge, Diet Sayler will be making a special installation in the Lady Chapel at Ely Cathedral. ‘I am fascinated by the light and the very particular expression of this space. So I would like to celebrate this space, working with rhythm, movement and colour. It could be a very interesting space for communication between tradition and modernity but also between church and people.’

A simultaneous exhibition is planned by Marlene Eleini at her London gallery.
Kettle’s Yard will also be showing a site-specific installation by Daniel Edwards in the House.
