Dr Jennifer Powell, Senior Curator at Kettle’s Yard and curator of the Henry Moore display at Tate Britain will discuss Moore’s sculptures in the open-air. Why did Moore prefer to see his works outdoors? How does the display of sculpture in the landscape change our experience of it? Dr Jennifer Powell will also discuss how outdoor exhibitions of sculpture in the 1950s and 1960s fed into a period of national post-war rebuilding of the arts in Britain.

Henry Moore is represented by two sculptures in the Kettle’s Yard collection, Head (1928) and Sculptural Object (1960). You can find more public works by Moore in Cambridge here.
