Since winning 1st Prize in the Lionel Tertis International Viola Competition in 2016, Timothy Ridout has gone on to perform widely throughout Europe. Future engagements include his debut with the Philharmonia Orchestra, Hamburg Symphony Orchestra, Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich and the Orchestre de Lille. He returns to Baden-Baden Philharmonie as Artist in Residence, and gives recitals at WIgmore Hall and Tokyo’s Musashino Hall.

Timothy is joined by Girton College alumnus, Jâms Coleman. Enjoying a varied musical life as a chamber musician, song accompanist and soloist, Jâms’ recent highlights include performing chamber music by Colin Matthews for the BBC Proms live on Radio 3 and song recitals at Wigmore Hall and the Oxford Lieder Festival.

About Timothy Ridout & Jâms Coleman

Since winning 1st Prize in the Lionel Tertis International Viola Competition in 2016, Timothy Ridout has gone on to perform widely in Europe.

Engagements this season include soloist appearances with the Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz, Philharmonia Orchestra, London Mozart Players and Sinfonia Cymru.  He is returning to Wigmore Hall, making his debut in Tokyo (Musashino Hall) and performing George Benjamin’s Viola, Viola at the Southbank Centre.  In 2017 Champs Hill released his first CD of music by Vieuxtemps to critical acclaim.

Sought after as a chamber musician, during 2018 Timothy is taking part in the Heimbach, Valdres Sommersymfoni, Boswil and Musikdorf Ernen Festivals, and undertaking projects at the Musikverein, Louvre and Salle Cortot.  He collaborates with Sir András Schiff, Steven Isserlis, Lawrence Power, Nobuko Imai, Frank Dupree, Frans Helmerson, Christian Tetzlaff, Isabelle Faust and Pavel Kolesnikov.

Born in Anglesey, North Wales, Jâms Coleman enjoys a rich and varied musical life as a chamber musician, song accompanist and soloist.

Recent highlights include chamber music by Colin Matthews for the BBC Proms live on Radio 3, appearing on BBC2’s Proms Extra with cellist Jamal Aliyev and giving song recitals at Wigmore Hall and the Oxford Lieder Festival.  He has collaborated with singers Robert Murray, James Gilchrist, Sir John Tomlinson, Nicholas Mulroy and Andrew Kennedy, appearing at venues throughout Europe. In 2017 he attended IMS Prussia Cove.

As a soloist, Jâms has performed concertos by Beethoven, Chopin, Brahms and Mozart, given solo recitals in France and appeared live on S4C and BBC Radio Cymru.
