birds, culture & conservation
Symposium - Monday 12 November – 10am-5pm, £20 (£10 conc.)
Historically, we have valued birds for their flesh and feathers and their symbolic power. Coinciding with the Henrik Håkansson exhibition, this one-day symposium, organised with Birdlife International and CRASSH, will delve into the cultural and ecological contexts of our conflicted relationship with nature and the significance of birds in the collective imagination.
Ruffled Feathers is organised in collaboration with Birdlife International and the Centre for Research in the Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities (CRASSH), University of Cambridge.
A provisional programme and booking information will be available soon. Please check the CRASSH website for further details.
