Paul Coldwell
I called when you were out
an intervention in the permanent collection, open 2-4pm
27 September 2008 - 11 January 2009
Recently, artist Paul Coldwell has been visiting Kettle's Yard with the idea of making new work for the house. 'I found myself increasingly thinking about the house as a place that had been once lived in.' His sculptures and prints reflect on what is there - decanters on the cider-press screw, or Gaudier-Brzeska's 'Maternity' - and what might be missing or hidden - family photographs, toys, clothing, a child's cot. Also showing is his film of sailing boats bobbing on a pond, set just beneath an Alfred Wallis painting.
