Kettle's Yard OPEN 2008
The Kettle's Yard open provides a showcase for artists working in the East arts region. It will be on show at Kettle’s Yard from 22 November 2008 - 11 January 2009, and will focus on presenting the work of up to sixteen artists in depth. There will be a small publication including a short text about each artist to accompany the exhibition.
Conditions of entry
The exhibition is open to artists working in any media who live or work in the Arts Council England, East region (comprising Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Huntingdon, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, unitary authorities of Luton, Peterborough, Southend and Thurrock).

Selection
Selection of artists will be made by Gill Hedley and Simon Wallis from submitted materials. Work for the exhibition will be selected by Kettle’s Yard staff during a subsequent studio visit. The decision of the selectors is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
The selectors
Gill Hedley is an independent curator. She is Chair of Spike Island in Bristol and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. Until 2006, she was the Director of the Contemporary Art Society.
Simon Wallis was recently appointed as the first Director of The Hepworth Wakefield. Prior to this, he was Director of the Chisenhale Gallery in London. He started his career as Exhibitions Organiser at Kettle's Yard.
Submitting Work
A single handling fee of £6 is payable on submission.
Original work is not required for the initial selection. Submissions can be
- up to 8 x 35mm slides or images on CD (slides/images must be of good quality)
- or, for time based works only, CD/DVD
Together with the application form, a brief CV and no more than single side artist statement, a stamped addressed envelope, payment and the entry form. Please see the entry form for full details.
