Kettle's Yard OPEN 2008

22 November 2008 - 11 January 2009

Our biennial OPEN exhibition returns to showcase the work of up to 16 talented artists from the Eastern region. Since 1995, the Kettle’s Yard OPEN has highlighted the range and vitality of art made in East Anglia. The exhibition will look at the work of each artist in depth, offering many of those selected their first substantial presentation in a public gallery. Many works will be for sale.

Marking a departure this year, our selectors are both curators rather than artists. Simon Wallis is an old friend of Kettle’s Yard. Recently appointed as the first Director of The Hepworth Wakefield, he was previously director of the Chisenhale Gallery, London. He started his career as Exhibitions Organiser at Kettle’s Yard. Gill Hedley is an independent curator, trustee of Spike Island in Bristol and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. Until 2006, she was the Director of the Contemporary Art Society.
