April is a really busy month for Kettle’s Yard – both at the building site and with our activities off site.
Work is continuing well at the Kettle’s Yard construction site. The crane base has been prepared and installed ready for the tower crane’s arrival on 10 April. Alongside this, the contractors have been working hard to excavate the basements. A temporary staircase has been installed in St Peter’s Churchyard to ensure visitors can access St Peter’s church throughout the building project.
Off site, we have been planning for an exhibition at the new Maxwell Centre on the West Cambridge site, ‘Into boundless space I leap: New Art, Dance and Science Interacting at the Maxwell Centre’. The Maxwell Centre is a new building for pioneering scientific research and industrial partnership in the University of Cambridge. We were pleased to have the opportunity to work with the Centre on an exhibition to celebrate their launch. On 9 April there will be an Open Day when visitors can tour the building, the exhibition and the laboratories, hear from scientists, artists and curators and see a brand new dance and sound piece by choreographer Wayne McGregor and artist Haroon Mirza, book here. If you cannot make it on 9 April, the exhibition can be seen on Saturdays until 2 July and there will be a second Open Day on 25 June.
