In 1979 New York artists Ana Mendieta and Mary Beth Edelson organised a dinner party in honour of Louise Bourgeois. Guests were invited to come dressed as their favourite woman artist from history. Dr Amy Tobin, curator of our ARTIST ROOMS Louise Bourgeois exhibition wrote about the dinner party in a previous blog post.

For our next Late event, we invite you to join us at an expanded dressing party, all genders and all artists welcome!

In the name of ‘research’ we’ve been scouring the internet for sources of inspiration for costumes. Have a look at some of the photos we found and get inspired! Check our our Pinterest board of more ideas if you’re still stuck!

Don a moustache and fisherman’s outfit fitting of St Ives’ Alfred Wallis.

Grab your favourite knitted jumper, jeans and a paintbrush to capture the air of Christopher Wood in his Self-Portrait, 1927.

Or, why not give Louise Bourgeois or Julie Mehretu a go?
