Over April & May Circuit worked with Juneau Projects, an artist duo from Birmingham, to put on an open exhibition titled ‘I Am The Warrior’ at Wysing Arts Centre. The group were involved in every stage of the process. Sam, one of the Circuit members designed the display structures and the poster. Others helped with the show build and install, to market the exhibition and collect the creative submissions from 15 to 25 year olds. As time went on the space filled up with more submissions. It was lovely to see the exhibition evolve the space and change with every entry.
To end the exhibition Circuit and Juneau Projects organised an afternoon of creative workshops followed by a Closing Party. The workshops were very popular and offered people the chance to design their own T shirts, tote bags and to make sculptural props for the closing party performances. Juneau Projects opened the closing party with a musical performance and were followed by poetry readings, artistic performances and a dance. Circuit commissioned a photography student to document the event and above are some of the beautiful images taken. See more photos from the event here.
Thankfully we were blessed with good weather and everything was able take place outdoors. People who contributed to the exhibition were able to meet other contributors, celebrate and collect their work. The group hope to make a short trailer from the film footage taken, which you will be able to see in the near future.
