Kettle’s Yard has a busy schools programme, welcoming a number of schools each week.
Students spend time with our learning team exploring the House and galleries through looking, drawing and discussing. This can be followed by a hands-on workshop led by artists in our new learning studio.
A teacher describes her recent visit to Kettle’s Yard with two year five classes:
“We brought a group of 60 year 5 children at the “scrag end’ of the year when many of them had rather lost interest in the nuts and bolts of school learning, many boys just interested in football, pecking order & ‘flossing’ and themselves. Within minutes of arriving in the education room and hearing Imogen explain the background and evolution of Kettle’s Yard, they were captivated.
As they entered the House, it was as if a magic spell had been cast and children who are reserved and withdrawn in the classroom were stimulated and engaged and observant.
It lasted us to the end of term and when we had our Arts Week at the end of the term, it was very useful to be able to refer to all that we had learnt here.”
Visiting Kettle’s Yard is free. Find out more about our schools offer and book your school in here.
