Watch the recording for this interactive children’s event with Cambridge Literary Festival. The event was first broadcast on 31 March 2021, and is now being shared as part of Cambridge City Council’s ChYpPS programme for children and young people.

Did you know that Cambridge is full of artists having adventures? Join Rose Feather and Imogen Alexander to discover just how far you can travel in one city, and go on your own adventure inspired by the artist Alfred Wallis.

An interactive event for families with children aged 3-5. (You’ll find it helpful to bring along an empty jam jar or clear water bottle for one of the activities).

About the book

Alfred’s Adventure in the Children’s City was created as part of Play and Picture Books, a partnership between Kettle’s Yard and The Red Hen Project, funded by Talking Together in Cambridgeshire.

In Spring 2020, families met each week to explore works by the painter Alfred Wallis through stories, art-making and songs. Together, the families built confidence exploring books and paintings through multi-sensory play and story-telling.

Each of the characters in this book is based on real children and families who went on Alfred Wallis-inspired adventures, and we hope it will encourage you to create your own wonderful stories together.
