8 June 2019, 10.30–1.30pm

Join us for a workshop with Anna Taylor from Anna’s Flower Farm and learn how to make your own flower crown, the perfect accessory for a May Ball, festival, wedding or summer party.

Flowers have always been important to Kettle’s Yard. Jim Ede used to collect wild flowers from the Kettle’s Yard garden to arrange throughout the House, working in harmony with other natural objects and works of art like Christopher Wood’s Flowers, 1930, David Jones’ Flora in Calix Light, 1950 and Winifred Nicholson’s Cyclamen and Primula, 1923 (circa).

On Saturday, 8 June from 10.30–1.30pm, join us for a flower-filled morning using seasonal flowers to make a crown to take home with you. This half day workshop will teach you the floristry techniques you need to create a head piece decorated with flowers, foliage and other natural materials. The event will include tea, coffee and cake, an out-of-hours visit to the House, all materials and tools as well as great tips about how to condition and maintain your flowers. To end, enjoy a glass of prosecco or sparkling elderflower.

Be inspired by the use of flowers at Kettle’s Yard and choose your blooms from a selection all grown on Anna’s organic farm near Cambridge. Anna will help you to structure your crown for shape, variety and a comfortable fit in your preferred colour scheme.

Access

Unfortunately, around three-quarters of the House is not accessible for wheelchair users. The upper part of the ground floor extension area of the House is accessible for wheelchair users, and if you call in advance or ask at the information desk when you arrive we can arrange to put a ramp out so that the whole of the downstairs extension area is accessible. We regret that the rest of the House is not possible to access in a wheelchair due to the historic nature of the building. There is no lift in the House.

There is a virtual tour of the House online here. You can also look at the virtual tour on an iPad when you arrive, please ask at the information desk. Most of the artworks in the permanent collection can be viewed online here.

There are several sets of stairs in the House, including a spiral staircase. Please let us know if you would prefer not to use the spiral staircase and we can provide an alternative route around the House.

Kettle’s Yard welcomes assistance and service dogs in the House.

The Clore Learning Studio is fully accessible. It can be reached by stairs or by lift, select -1 in the lift. There is an accessible toilet with baby changing facilities in the basement beside the Learning Studio. There are more toilets and facilities on the ground and first floors.
