30 July 2021, 8.30pm

Californian architecture comes to Cambridge, with film shorts shown in a West Cambridge garden against a modernist backdrop.

The documentary film that will be shown at this outdoor garden screening is about the defining photographs of mid-century modernist houses in Southern California by Julius Shulman (1910–2009), and his friendship with architects and home owners.

The film shorts will be introduced by Will Paice, who was Executive Producer of the film and author of the accompanying book, and met Julius. He will guide us through the history of Californian modernism.

‘What good is a dream house if you haven’t got a dream?’ – Julius Shulman

The film will be shown in a Cambridge garden with a modernist 1930s building backdrop as the screen. Covid-secure directions for seating will be given. Bubbles of three people at the most will be allowed. Bring your own chairs, wine and nibbles. Please dress appropriately for outdoors.

£20 per person, household/support bubbles of up to three people allowed, booking required
