About Lonarc Oboe Trio

The Lonarc Oboe Trio was formed in 1991. Joseph Sanders, Owen Dennis and Judy Proctor are all graduates of the Royal Academy of Music, London.

Experienced orchestral musicians, they have, between them, played in every symphonic, chamber, opera and ballet orchestra in the UK. Joseph, as Guest Principal Oboe with the London Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra; Owen, with London Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia, City of London Sinfonia and Mozart Players; and after a break from professional playing (1998-2008) Judy, with BBCSO, City of London Sinfonia, Ulster Orchestra, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, RTE Concert and Orquestra do Norte in Portugal. She was Oboe Tutor for the Royal Oman Symphony and Muscat Royal Philharmonic Orchestras 2012-14.

James Horan, an original founding member, was appointed Principal Cor Anglais with BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra in 1998. Lonarc Oboe Trio Publishing has been set up to publish James’ amazing repertoire of oboe trio arrangements and compositions so that other trios can enjoy them.

Owen  joined the Trio in 2007 when they re-formed after being offered a residency with the Grosvenor Estate Summer Festival for outdoor classical chamber concerts at Brown Hart Gardens and also at Spitalfields. Heis a founder member of the Galliard Ensembleand an Oxford graduate, he also teaches mathematics at Eastbourne College.

All three are experienced teachers and coaches.

The Lonarc Oboe Trio are committed to recording all of the original 18thcentury Viennese-Bohemian Oboe Trios by Went, Triebensee, Wranitsky, Krommer, Poessinger and Beethoven, along with  the arrangements by James Horan and hope for new commissions from composers such as Judith Weir,  Paul Patterson and Sally Beamish, amongst others.

All three members of the Lonarc Oboe Trio  play on Marigaux instruments, and Judy plays on Thomas Hiniker B13 silver crooks (bocals).
