Which objects in the Kettle’s Yard collection make it unique, and recognised by many as a world-leading collection?
This personal selection from the House by Dr Jennifer Powell, Head of Exhibitions, Collection and Research, will explore well-known objects and others that may be less familiar.
We will consider the contribution that some of Kettle’s Yard’s paintings, drawings and sculptures made to the development of British and international modernisms of the twentieth century.
Wider shifts in exhibition cultures that promoted the domestic setting of the home in the 1950s will also be discussed in relation to the unique setting of the Edes’ home, in which the collection is still maintained today. Join us for an hour of discovery and discussion.
