The Caretakers Project, delivered by artist Eloise Moody, and supported by arts organisation Metal, is a new six-part audio series which will offer the public a rare glimpse into the life of UK museum and gallery security staff and those maintaining buildings and collections during lockdown. Each episode centres on one object, chosen and narrated by a member of a security or maintenance team, offering a reimagined take on the traditional curator-led tour format. The series offers rare access into the hidden worlds of museums and galleries and the people that have been looking after them during the Covid-19 pandemic with diligence, passion and deep commitment to our heritage.
The six museums and galleries across England that are participating are: Kettle’s Yard, Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery, Museum of London, Royal Museums Greenwich, Pitt Rivers Museum Oxford and Southend Museums.
We will be sharing a new audio clip on this page every day from Monday, 13 July – Friday, 17 July so do keep checking back.
